Context
From Hebrews 11's account of the heroes of faith. It comes right after Enoch, who by faith was taken by God without dying, and was commended as one who pleased God (11:5; Genesis 5:24). The writer explains why Enoch's faith mattered: pleasing God starts with believing that he exists and rewards those who seek him.
